Es begeistert mich, in Farbe und Form die Themen umzusetzen, die mich seit jeher berührt haben: Menschen, ihre Schönheit, ihre Einzigartigkeit, in Bewegung, Tanz oder in ruhender Haltung, immer neu, immer anders. Den stärksten Impuls bekam ich bei meinem Aufenthalt in West Afrika (Gambia). Die Farbigkeit der Menschen, die Eleganz ihrer Bewegungen, die Schönheit der Kleidung (besonders der Frauen), das Licht und die Atmosphäre beeindruckten mich. Gambia ist eine unerschöpfliche Quelle der Inspiration. Ein Fest fürs Auge. Der mehrjährige Aufenthalt hat mich und meine Arbeit geprägt und mir auch einen anderen Blick auf die Welt geschenkt. Natürlich male ich „europäisch“, beeinflusst durch mein Studium in Hamburg, aber Farbe mutig einzusetzen, habe ich erst in Afrika gelernt. Ich bin dankbar, dass mir die handwerklichen Mittel zur Verfügung stehen, meine Eindrücke auf die Leinwand zu bringen und die afrikanische Lebensenergie und Freude in die Welt zu bringen und andere Menschen zu inspirieren!
Artistic work
My intention and joy is to transfer topics, which are touching me, into colour and form. Ever since I was attracted by painting people, their different appearances, movements in endless variations, in dance or quiet positions, but always new for the eyes and unique. I studied in Hamburg, but I can say, the biggest inspiration for my artistic work I received while living in West Africa (Gambia). The beauty of the people, their elegant movements and the colours of their dresses (especially of the women) impressed me. Everyone walks like a queen, proud and with a dress which fits totally. Their feeling for colours is fantastic and it is a pleasure to walk through the markets, watching them, though the heat and dust and noise can be challenging … But it is an enormous life energy, vibrating all over, mixed with music and laughter. I spent my happiest time there and I am grateful, I got the tools to realize these impressions on canvas and transport the African life energy and joy into the world to inspire other people!
